steel gear

I have put steel gears in every car I have owned after the experince of doing two timing gears in 6 months in my first car then trusting to luck on my second and having it let go on the way to Canberra in 1995 Ah memories.

yes they are a little whiney and I only change the cam gear not the crank ...

I once had a piece of electrical tape on a tyre once, drove me mad till I found it.

intake or exaust manifolds I think?

if it is not the switch try looking in the boot you can trace the wires back to connector in the boot {yellow wire for taillight}

also if you have had to replace your spedo cable the wire from the brake switch may have come adrift ther is a concetot oh the orange wire fron the brake switch that has ...

its a long drive from where I live and its such a pain to sit around and drink beer while she's being worked on NOT :D

however as they wreck old holdens they nearly always have the bits available, they have kept all the FB EK stuff for Mable

some tips from my experience

Don’t worry about getting the Car up high enough to get the gearbox out so long as you can move the gearbox underneath you can move it under the front to the wheel arch and get it out through there

Also you will need a block of wood to put under your sump to jack the engine up with the sump is ...

Flywheel

I was in my garage today having a rumage,

found a grey motor flywheel it has 6 holes on it 4 for the attaching bolts and 2 for the dowel so you are probably correct as it would be possible to attach this flywheel 180degrees out.

the older I get and I am still learning :)

Grille and timing gear

Yeah the engine work is basically straight forward

But the amount of time required to get at those 5/16 bolts that hold the indicator surrounds that are covered in road grime and then the seized nuts in the grille is way more than to remove the camshaft from the engine. :evil:

changing the cam gear

you know you can change the cam gear with the camshaft still in the engine :twisted:

instead of it taking you about 5 hours you can do it in about 2

BUT you have to know what you are doing and it needs two people.
