Hi All
can someone tell me how big an engine can you you put into an ek legally in NSW with all the right mods done.I heard you cant go past a 327 sbc.
Cheers
Tony
Stand and listen to knowledge turn your back on stupidity.......
Yep, 327 is the maximum size you can go ( FB/EK) with naturally aspirated engines (ie:- non blown ) and the formula actually works out to 332 point something cubes.
In turboed or supercharged engines the formula is different again and from memory ( ) it works out that a 253 or thereabouts size is the largest capacity blown engine < ( not exactly sure on size until I have a look on the DOTARS website).
what about a 253/308 running grey rocker covers and an oilbath air filter paint it grey call it factory and Robert is one of your parental figures siblings or a close family friend
The current formula only came out a few years ago so there would still be a fair amount of older cars getting around with bigger capacity engines than the current 332 cube maximum because they were engineered and approved under the previous formula that the RTA used.
If anyone gets an engine approved nowdays ( for FB/EK fitment) in NSW that is above 332 cubes then they should send their engineer an xmas and birthday present every year for the the rest of his life .
Hi,I was told awhile ago that you could put in a 149 but not a 161 in without engineering ? but they keep changing rules. You could try a 138 red if you can find one. Cheers Steve
You can in NSW fit 149 without engineers cert as thats what I did to mine less than 12 months ago, rules are still the same now.161 and above need Engineers cert.
