FC EK HK Steering columns wanted.

Post by wot179 »

Ive been asked to build a collapsible steering column for a mate with an FC ute.

Its currently got a front mount rack and an older Hadvield shortened column in it.

I reckon I can do the job if I can lay my hands on an FC-EK column for the top and a HKTG one for the bottom.

A little machining and a bearing and circlips on the bottom should see me right.

So Im after a couple of columns.

Any help appreciated.

Oh...Im making the assumption that FC and EK columns are the same...Im not concerned with what the steering box does as it will be discarded.

If Im wrong, straighten me out now.

Cheers in advance.

FC column is longer (flat steering wheel) but essentially the same for the rest.

Thanks for that, Craig.

It shouldn't make too much difference then so long as the top half is the same.

Cheers.

I would have one here in Adelaide could cut the box off and send just the column if you cant find anything closer. Free just cover postage or swap for a HR wagon tailgate badge.
cheers

That's a generous offer, Scott.

If nothing closer turns up I will take you up on it.

Cheers, Craig.

The generosity of the blokes on this forum is outstanding.

Thanks fellas.

I think I have an EK column sorted.

Now to find a HKTG one as well.

Hi wot. This is exactly what I did. I also flattened the EK shifter so I could use the FC wheel. I have a rear mount rack and it's a bitch if a turn. Three uni and an eye joint...
