hey all, i have recently gone to drive my car and was not able to select any gears and my gear stick was all floppy. I had my better half have a look and 1 of the linkages has come off at the steering box. i was wondering if anyone could help me out cause we dont know how it reconnects?its the linkage that is shaped like a w.

This bolts on if it is the one that goes into the back of the steering box, but I fear they have a bad habit of snapping which means you need to diasassemble the steering box and replace the selector tube...Yuk - or fit a floor shift. Hopefully it is the simpler option and its the other selector rod and it is just that the split pin has come out....

ok, wat would be the best manual to buy with the diagrams?
Gregorys workshop manual no 67 ( 1948 - 1968 ) , should be able to order it from most spare parts shops for around $50 or so new or around $30 2nd hand at swap meets or evilbay.
or genuine GMH FB or EK Holden workshop manual usually available from Evilbay or swap meets and usually sell for around $60 average price for good usable 2nd hand one.

i have ordered a manual and waiting on arrival, wat can we start on while we wait? how do i pull apart the steering column?

I had to replace the selector tube on my fb 6 months ago.
i went 3rd to second and got nothing
To cut a long story short its a 2 man job to fit the arm at the bottom (after replacing the tube), and make sure you get the felt seals in the right place
When this happened to mine, I just ripped out the whole column and replaced it with another. Simple and easy when you have the spares. Took about an hour tops!

Would be best to try and get a column up near where you live if possible as freight can be a killer even on relatively light-ish parts like a steering column.
