Do you need to change ehgine mounts for a 149 and do you have to do a disc brake front end which would require a eng cert wouldnt it?

You do need to move the engine mounts ( same for 138 red up to 202 ) but its not hard to do.There are a few other mods required but grey to red 6 is easy really.

In NSW you can legally fit a 149 red without any modifications whatsoever with exception to the mods you obviously need to fit the motor itself. You don't need to do anything else to the car at all.Don't need a disc front end.

Once the motor is fitted, take to a blue slip station, he inspects the engine mounts for weld and design to make sure they are up to the job and other mods you have done to the motor for fitment as well as checking the engine number to a database online and then issues you with a blue slip you take to the RTA and then you are on road.

No need for engineer for 138 red and 149 red in NSW.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

make sure the welds are OK as if the blue slip inspector isn't happy with them he can send you for an engineers inspection, but you still won't need all the crap he'll be just certifing the engine mount welds

Reddo,

Rats right,

There is one letter stopping you from having the 179 legally fitted and thats the letter "J".

Rear axle assembly ( including brakes) is the same except EJ has the grey motor diff centre ( 3.89 ) and EH has the red motor diff centre ( 3.55 and 3.36 factory fitment).

The braking system on EJ is the same as for EH, they both have what's called a "Duo-Servo" type brake ( as opposed to the earlier "Semi Huck" design) and also have the same part no's for Brake shoes and brake slave cylinders from referencing my master parts catalogue.

There is a bit of info you can also find about old holden braking systems on the Hoppers Stoopers website and also via the EJ EH holden club website and from memory of when I last looked at both sites it also states that braking systems between the two models are the same.

There again, you have to prove this to an engineer as stupid as it sounds.

Cheers,

Tex.
