Nice work Scott,
Those door hold open springs must get a work out. On my Ute they were gone having broken off about where you welded yours. A replacement set solved the problem. I wonder if the heat from welding it will cause an issue with the spring steel later on? Time will tell.

I had the same thought, welding hardens right? - figured if it doesn't work I'm no worse off. Pretty surprised it did to be honest! When it flexes now it's right in the middle of the bend, so maybe that's the next point of failure.

Tartan Turquoise? Twilight Turquoise? Reef Green? Probably more blue than green
It's a FB panel (I can see where the stars and special badge holes have been filled in). Who knows - could also have been resprayed but looks original.

Thanks Harv - at the end of the day the name is probably only useful as a historic reference anyway.
IF I like the colour, then its not too important what its called, but I was hoping to search for cars in this colour to see if I like it across a whole car, and not just the tiny patch I am looking at on the underside of the guard.
I have access to a colour scanner like the ones they scan samples in the paint dept at Bunnings, so I'll grab the values with that. Or maybe I should just take the whole guard in to Bunnings

Yes very frustrating the info lost to the forum. There are a couple of public FB pages with pictures, and one that had a list of colours for FB/EK that was simple to read and copy/paste the data. I have started to compile a folder of photos with colours. If I get a broad enough sample I'll post them up on the forum. There are over 40 colours from my count, not to mention the roof/flash combos. I think I have about 12 examples so far that I think are reasonably accurate (for internet sourced images).

Well time for an update.
Finished treating the rust on the boot

Before After Flipped it over and got distracted by the holes in the bracing. Boot lights! Well I am not someone who would waste a perfectly good $50 lens on a boot lid light, instead I think I have wasted a good few days modelling and 3D printing my own.
Version 1 It's a start, not sure if I like it, and while I mulled over it I stripped and cleaned up the inside of the boot. No big hidden rusty surprises here.

So an idea forms. Then the idea is put on hold with a road trip to Melbourne via Beechworth The old man's Land Rover - was a daily driver since purchased new. Seen better days now it's been retired to the farm. A bit of evening reading.
Tried to get the best fit I can shimming as per the instructions in the shop manual. This is it!?

Then back from holidays, still no decision with the bad boot lid, so I distracted myself with version 2 of the boot lid lights.
This one has a better profile and I printed up a mounting plate. The lens twist on.
Then I added a clip on safety red warning cap thingy that stops you getting blinded by the light. Might try this colour coded to the car down the track. Then a full red one with 4 ribs. Impossible to get a good finish with this due to the shape. What was I doing again.......

Oh yeah trying to decide if I really want to cut out and raise the body to match the boot.
So after much forming and shaping and general hitting and twisting later I managed to get these. And on the drivers side.. They are ok. There is a lot of work that I need to do around the rear window on the drivers side rust wise, so I might tackle that first.
I have also thought about taking a BFH to the lip of the boot but it looks correct as is. Or I could just fill it in with body filler.
What I need to do is make a decision. So I'll go and remove some body deadener off the front guards and think about it.
Or try to repaint cars with AI

Take to the lip of the boot with Mister Hit. It shouldn't (famous last words) take too much effort.

If it were me I would have a go at bending or shimming the boot to hinge mounting surface so the hinge is swinging further in the shut direction, bringing the lip lower. Possibly you've considered this already.
