Yes, horrible dirty rusty fibre- more likely plant than animal though Harv I'd guess. It doesn't smell like hair when it burns😀

From memory I think the coils around the pipes were in positions to protect from stone damage only and not all the whole length.
Back then there were lots of dirt roads and this contributed to the second issue of collecting dirt. I always have a chuckle at the guy behind the counter saying things like, all they did is collect dirt and rust !! That's right 40 years of collecting it to rust, imagine the inside with the moisture absorbing brake fluid.

Fast forward to today and your hard pressed to find a good old dirt road nor will I drive on one ( that I think ) so I have not installed the coil, no modern car that I have has this type of protection.

Re FIREWALL KIT.

I saw that after buying a kit from them before and wanting another one.

The 'price' is to keep the listing going while they wait for boards to come from the USA suppliers.

Normal price was $90 plus post and I was very happy with mine, and shipped very safely too. Kick panels are also quality gear.

Yes I paid about $90 from memory. I have tried mob with foam backing and also fibreglass type stuff. Both were ok for the large panel but the smaller one wasn't the same shape as original.
Everybody's kick panels seem to be ok.

card is back in stock now i believe, $150 buys the kit and kick panels he makes from memory and yes it has a big ticket price on it just to keep the listings happening as per ebay policy while replenished, you'd question the high price if you really wanted kit i guess.. but you never know these days

Goog morning fine Holden heads!

It’s been a bloody busy week between work, the Holden and doing some house hunting but I’m back on afternoon shift so that gives me the mornings where I can burn the candle at both ends I. The shed for 8 hours and then go drive trains for another 8 haha.

So thanks for the robust discussion about the insulation pad on the firewall. I just took the easy option and removed the horse hair and hacked into some of the floor pan felt that I have got and glued it on to the cards.

It all worked out pretty good… or good enough I should say.

I had to get this job done as the smaller insulation piece on the drivers side needed to be fitted before the handbrake assembly under the dash went into position.

The next job was to get the rest of the handbrake mechanism and cable into place under the car so I could ensure the brake lines would not interfere with it.

Once that was in place I went ahead with finishing the brake lines. I made a few boo boo’s and had to buy some more Bundy tube so the job didn’t go to budget but I got there in the end.

Sure hope none of it leaks as I don’t want to be doing this job again!

Next up is the brake line on the rear diff housing for the rear brakes. I’ll get into that today… hopefully first time lucky this time!

The tube is not too dear so the odd rejected prototype is no drama.

Looking very tidy, P clamps and all.

Not too dear but it adds up fast.

Would rather do it and get it right though.
