Re: Replacement Headlight Switch
Hey guys just about to pull the trigger on a HR headlight switch from Rares to fit into my wagon.
Does the FB knob & shaft fit into a HR switch ?
Same for the mounting nut and plastic bezel surround?
Cheers Drew

Re: Replacement Headlight Switch
Drew , that looks more like a HQ style that has the triangular shaft ? Have you had a good look at it ??? Do Rares not have the FB/EK style in stock ?

Re: Replacement Headlight Switch
They do buts they are like $170 which I’m avoiding.
I have a fb switch but was looking to retro fit something a bit cheaper and easier to source

We did a bulk buy from the US and bought 6 from memory, might be time to do it again, they ended up at around $90 as I recall

Re: Replacement Headlight Switch
Just got back to work after wasting a week of my life at Tanami minesite being screwed around by engineers who don’t know how to use a tape measure and on my desk are some presents
I bought 3 more of the same ones we bought last time plus a generic type that was only $57 delivered that looked similar-
The generic one will do the job, is physically smaller and has a circuit breaker rather than a bi metal switch, when I get home I will see if the park light circuit operates as per a standard FB/EK or if it’s on when the headlights are on as well - the biggest drama for a direct replacement is you can’t use a stock headlight knob in this switch.
Not a biggie if you were using custom switch knobs but no good for a resto

Re: Replacement Headlight Switch
I see that the repro one has 12V stencilled on it. The ones I got from you last time have 6V on them. Still work good and I’m sure it isn’t an issue.

Re: Replacement Headlight Switch
The 6V ones if anything would have a higher current rating seeing as I(current) = E(voltage) / R (resistance)Errol62 wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 9:18 pm I see that the repro one has 12V stencilled on it. The ones I got from you last time have 6V on them. Still work good and I’m sure it isn’t an issue.
