You can buy setting rubber from Woodies Windscreens over Balcatta/Dianella way - thats what I used for my 57 as they have a frame around the perimeter of the glass , you clamp it together and pour white spirits from memory over it which causes the rubber to swell . Comes in varying thicknesses but for where you cant see such as the bottom runner guide I normally just use Sikaflex
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Oooh..... Fast Glass 8) . Now all it needs is Breeze and Ease, and Stairs to the Roof.

Can we see what the other side of that bracket/motor setup looks like please, and get a parts list for the motor?

I found mine right on the line of not quite reaching the kick panels until I pulled the lower of the kick panel just slightly out to sit over the trimmed edge of the carpet. Just another 10mm wider would have made it nicer.
The hump still has a slight lump where the factory auto brace should be. But over all pretty good fit.

Thanks for the reply MPH re the carpet.
The window mechanisms are from an early f@*d laser this was what Peter had used. They have a bent runner but it can be removed from the mech and straightened, some photos below.

When I was trying to mount the plastic part I found that the mounting points were angled and I could not get it to sit flush so I removed them and only used the one I tacked on, the little tools show where the mounts were and now are not :esurprised:

Still having a little trouble with the drivers side but just needs some adjustment

Very resourceful Neil. I’ve thought about fast glass but always thought the after market kits. This would be a cheaper way to go no doubt.

One of the reasons that it has taken me so long is because I did buy an aftermarket kit but the mechanisms and glass channels were big and I just couldn't get my head around i, I will take a photo to show what I mean.
The kit comes with a wiring harness and switches so I have been using it but I don't like the chunky industrial looking switches so might source some other switches.

New question :roll: what have people used to get the wires into the doors there are braided ones on eBay but they are expensive and have to come from the States.

I’ve seen jamb tacks used which are contacts which only work when the doors are shut. Tidy look but obvious disadvantage of no sound or windows when door is open.

Ended up sorting out the electric windows, I found that because the mechanisms are second hand they can be a little tied :crazy: I had a spare passenger side motor, swapped it and it now works really well, used Sikaflex one the bottom of the window to window runner channel and let it set for a couple of days and now goes up and down no dramas, drivers side motor seems a tied so may have to replace it.
Finishing off the sound proofing before carpet and I'm still finding stuff I have to do :crazy:

Fan doesn't look too bad painted silver and fitted and you don't really see that much with the bonnet closed

Finished most of the sound deadening, need some more foil tape for the joins and have to remove the shifter so I can do the hump.

What would be really cool is if you could use the original winder arm and rip out the guts of the mechanism and fit the switch in behind it - put it in the closed position and a slight touch up sends it up - slight down sends it down on some kind of spring return switch - I hate the look of the modern switches - plastic just doesn't suit these cars

I think someone on the FE/FC forum did that but not sure who it was or how long back. :smile22:
