Bay to Birdwood classic (South Australia)

Post by MINT62 »

Gday folks

here's some images from today's Bay to Birdwood classic
1750 classic vehicles in a cruise from West Beach to Birdwood - with thousands of spectators lining the roads along the way :D
Image
good to catch up breifly with roger & leslie B4 the start, spotted the violet p/van roof a mile away :D
Image
plenty of FB/EK and other early holdens from far and wide
Image

Image
plenty of fins n chrome too 8)

Image
all kinds of cars & bikes :?
Image
definately worth the trip over to Adelaide to take part in this motoring spectacle
Image
the traffic was pretty kaotic at times, but it was good to get up to Tea Tree Gully - where they close the other lane off and we get both lanes
then you get to pass all the slow pommy crap etc
hillman, hillman, mini, gogo mobile
after completing the run we picked up our plaque and shot thru to the Palmer hot rod street party 8)
where we caught up with the rest of the S.A. fb/ek boys & girls :D 8)

see - what's happening in S.A.

top day!

G'day Stringray
A bit about the car very standed, a reconned the motor about 5 years ago and it stilll has original auto. I've owned the car for 25 years, sometimes it's been pressed into full time service and other times it's sat in the shed for a year unused. As you can see from the picture I to need the front bar badge, also looking for servicable FB Hub caps (because I like the smooth finish).

G'day Smooth
thanks for your comments, in previous posts you spoke door arm rests (i cant think of the proper name of them at the moment). You said they were blue, EK blue or FB blue? Have you got a picture and how much do you want for them?

Unfourtney I'm a Luddite and I had to get my young son to type this up for
I have been viewing this site for years now but just haven't got around to posting.

bay to birdwood

Post by igor »

Thank you for posting the pics on the forum of the Bay to Birdwood.
We have just arrived home after having a great weekend. We have now "done" the classic 4 times (2 in our sedan) and 2 in the panelvan. (Even though the fella on the "mike" said that he had never seen a fb holden painted "that purple colour"..!!) a bit embarressing.
It was great to catch up with Ray and family, and Julius and Michelle although briefly, but this event is very busy with 1750 cars to look at.. and we had hoped that we would meet up properly at Birdwood, but alas, that did not happen. To drive through Gummeraca where all the fb/ek people were parked and getting huge waves etc, was pretty cool.
Also, good luck with your (S.A. fb/ek club meeting) and please let us know if there is any help we can give (as our club here in Mount Gambier is reasonably new) we have a fair bit of info to share, and hopefully make it easier for you if you wish.
till we meet again
kindest regards
Roger and Lesley

Hi roger & leslie

glad you had a good time, and it didnt rain :D
we also enjoyed our first B2B in our EK, it would of been better to get an earlier start tho
we didnt get up to birdwood until 12:30, missing the others by 15-20mins
unfortunately didnt get a chance to catch up at birdwood as we drove thru to Palmer to catch up with the other guys
thanks for the offers of help
maybe we could organise a club run up to the mount one day :D
catch ya's next time
