and be able to open the bonnet with a grin from ear to ear

and off the road it will come, will start pulling it apart then

im stil not to sure how im going to hide it under the bonnet need to start
thinking about a bonnet bulge or somthin thats not going to look to out of place

This is a kit that's the same as mine (I don't have any pics of mine with me).



I thought long and hard about which supercharger I should fit to a grey motor and decided that it had to be one that was period correct, freely available for FKs, and able to be completely kept under the bonnet.

Judson made one for the Chev Corvair that has a 140ci motor (pretty close to our 138ci greys). The carb sits neatly behind the supercharger and comes with its own compact air cleaner. The Corvair is a flat 6 so it has that long inlet pipe to feed the other 3 cylinders. I'll use this outlet on the manifold to fit the pressure-relief valve instead and just open up the other outlet so that it flows better through the single remaining outlet.

I figure I can't go too wrong because it's an entire kit that was proven to work well on 140ci motors.

I'd love to have had a Norman, but a). Couldn't find one, and b). Couldn't afford it even if I did! I'm dead jealous of yours

Hey Dave, where did you get your pulleys from?

I've been told that if I use one of the Rare Spares harmonic balancers (red motor style with the three holes) that a triple pulley off a Starfire 4 will fit straight on it. How did you do yours?

I see Grantly used a Gilmer style set-up, but I bet that cost an absolute fortune to have made

yeh that was prob me

use a new type harmonic balancer , 4cyl commy crank pulley will bolt on
its a 3 row i also used the 3 row water pump pulley off the same engine for the norman
i guess it depends on what boost you are going to run
anything that will bolt on to a red motor balancer will bolt on to the newer type grey ones
so gilmer pulley's, vk commodore has a bigger pully (that runs air con or power steer) will work i think
its a 2 row ,
i was thinking of trying a small block chev alloy one it would be easy enough to drill out
and 2 row
i will try and find some pics of the ones i have and post them up

That helps a lot, thanks Dave. I'll have to do something clever for the tensioner, but that shouldn't be too difficult to sort out.

these are the 4cyl commodore pulleys they are almost the same size
but norman now sits on the manifold

Mine is meant to run with a single belt to the supercharger, but much prefer to put 2 like you have there.

I'll double-up the idler and the driven pulleys on the supercharger itself, and then I just have the simple matter of brackets and manifolds to sort out...easy right?

yeh im going to get the 3 row machined down to 2 row
and run a alloy top pulley just because theres not enough stuff to keep polishing

you'll have fun setting it up , i had a go at a making a few manifolds to try and keep it under the hood
but it will be poking its head out
