Which engines if any bolt into FB's?

Post by Jarrod »

I have a 60 FB special, grey motor, and was wondering which other engines if any can be bolted straight in. Anyways if not which engines would be the best to get, 179 hp, 186? 202?

Thanks!

Many engines can be "bolted in after the required mods are made...

Seriously though only a grey will bolt in, the 179, 186, 202 will all require some work to fit, ie front ends, engine mounts radiator, brakes, gearbox, diff etc....

Do a search we have a few posts on engine swaps.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Have a look at the CRS website to get an idea of what you could need to do the swap

A later model V6 Commodore motor would out do most stockish older straight 6's.

a V6 will chew most hotty red 6's  especially a manual version, but if yor going to the trouble/expense of fitting a V6 you might aswell fit a V8
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping

 They use a Frod 221 ( 3.6 litre ) cube crank and machine to fit Red journals and machine and weld the red flywheel snout onto the Frod crank.

Brings a 186 up to 235 cubes. Not cheap as special pistons have to be used as well.

Masterstroke engineering used to do it in the '80's , probably others as well.

Problem now is finding a good 221 crank as the 221 engines weren't very plentifull in their day and are harder to find now.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.
