I bought a hot 186 for the van on the weekend.
I ran into an old mate I haven't seen in years,
He asked me if I knew anyone who was after a worked 6
I wasn't going to spend any money on a motor until after the van was registered & running,
as it has a stock 202 that would do the job initially, until he told me about it, & the price.

The list of specs I got with it says -
186 Block
Duralite flat top pistons with chrome moly rings
Blue motor 202 crank reground to suit the 186
Blue motor rods
Fully balanced bottem end
High flow oil pump
High energy sump
Manly push rods
Crow street/strip solid cam
Crow solid lifters
Stage 3 Yella Terra
Crane roller rockers
Competition Bearings
Straight cut steel timing gears
Scorcher Ignition

The motor has done less that 50 miles, but has been sitting in a shed for 10yrs or more.
I rang some other mates of mine that also new the owner, and told me it went like shit of a shovel.
It did have a 465 holley and 6al MSD when it was last running, but they had since been sold off.
It was all set up in a HR with a Top Loader & 9 inch diff.

I will stick with my stock 202 until the car is registered,
then I will breathe some life into this baby later on.

Price $1100

Nice score - I always had a soft spot for a 186 - they love to rev
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Not yet, but I am looking, McGee made them, Aunger had them avaliable,
Aussiespeed have new blank castings avaliable to make your own,
There seems to be a few new set-ups avaliable, Sonic, Injection Perfection etc
But I would like to convert an old one to EFI 8)
I have plenty of time before I lash out on anything,
I have to get the van going first

There was a nice eaton blower setup to suit a holden six on ebay last week.

If I didn't have my turbo setup, I think I would have grabbed it.

The blower would make your already 8) van even 8) er

Keep up the good work, and please post more pictures

I can see why the HR was going to get a Top Loader & 9"!!
