Cheers Devilrod

FOR ALL THOSE TUNING IN I REALLY WOULD LIKE A PARCEL SHELF IF ONE BECOMES AVAILABLE 8)
but for now heres some updated pics for yall .

Ive set the engine in place ,mounts unfinished as yet .

Image

Gearbox crossmember and mount fabricated.

Image

Flattened out the floor hump to allow the seats to mount in low due to the chop.

With all this bashing on the floor the sledge hammer and bolster sure got a work out , I kept the roller door down to contain the noise .
Next day the council turns up with a complaint that I am running an illeagle business , People are yelling over the fence and you cant hear them due to the noise he said  and spray painting "which happened to be my neighbour cleaning his boat with a compressor

A couple of phone calls later and its all sorted and I am totally within my rights
But I dont have any courtesy for that neighbour now poor buggers.

Started sorting the seating position and angle that will suit both me and wifey. Worked out my accelerator pedal assembly and position , I moved it across to the right some more so I can comfortably rest my foot when driving.
I calculated that I am most comfortable with my feet rested 400mm apart so Ill have the clutch pedal as close to that as I can .
The pedal assembly Im still unsure of because the box has a hydraulic setup which Id prefer not to have due to the simplicity of a cable but I havent driven anything with a cable clutch...

In this pic you might notice the subtle headlight spread .
And have also decided to use a Chev dash which Ill be fitting my guages to ,Picking it up next week and Im keen to get it in there , It will get the steering across 50mm to centre it to the driving position better and give better veiw - stay tuned

Its hard when the noise becomes a problem ,I have had the council come to my place as moderators before and it was embarrasing as I was grinding in the shed whilst they stood at the side gate with my unregistered dog barking for a good Ten minutes
Id have to admit that grinding steel is a terrible sound, not as bad as a screaming neighbour, goodluck
Its coming up a treat

looking great Harko,

I have to tread very carefully at my place with noise too...

My neighbours have threatened to report me as well etc etc.

Cheers

I know ! , My biggest promblem is I am a very empathetic person so I can totaly understand their point of veiw .
I would hate to have a neighbour making that much noise and I couldnt/wouldnt understand what he was doing.

But I actually work around the neighbours ,The guy next door gets up late so I start late , the woman who complained has a yappy dog that drives me insane but never complain ,And I stop if they are in there entertainment area BBQing etc.
Well I used to because both those neighbours now have a problem with me ,and the council dont so Ive stepped it up a level and I now work to my own schedule. They can deal with what I am legally allowed to do ... "Shame but oh well Ive got a cool kustom to finish" :D
Back to the topic = Ive flipped the stone tray and mounted the bumper lower , Im using EK blinker assemblies and FB grille that will be widened and lengthened to fill the hole and grow by one grille bar .

Harko,

I love how your mods are all really subtle and enhance the flow, it looks right and the combination of them all is killer.

How about taking some meat out of the bumper and make it thinner to match the thickness of the bonnet strip, that would be super cool.. something I have been toying about with FE/FC as well.

I'm talking vertical height not side to side, if that makes sense?

Thanks ED ,I want it to be still recogniseable as an EK Holden so studying what I want to acomplish and coming back 2 or 3 times to make sure I like it works for me .
Sometimes a good photoshop mod that looks great will look crap when you go away and come back to it

Just quietly I think youve unlocked your new futre  Now you know anything metal can be manipulated nothings impossible . and its almost limitless.

The bumper on the EK sucks because its a feature that individualises this model , and Im not keen on the bull nosed look but most changes mixed with the rest of the car make it loose its identity I think.

heres a couple of trials (photoshop)

Our second HR that has the Chevy 2 Motor (194cid) had this cable clutch set up that, as far as I know, was only on the South African versions. Over the years we have fitted these cable clutch mechanisms and cables onto both our FB's too.
Maybe these pics are of some use to you.

Cheers Alistair , How does a clutch feel when its cable operated ?
And I have a VN pedal assemply here that has the cable operated clutch , It just has a short tube that protrudes through the firewall and the pedals are across to the right a little more than standard EK which will mesh in with the planned steering position .
I just got home from grabbing the chev dash off a mate and Im keen as mustard to get it in .

By the way the mate I got the dash from owns a 59/60 pontiac and it made me think of you when I spotted it :).

lance ?

my VP wagon is manual and the clutch feels great, i think it's fairly basic a cable runs through the tube you speak of which hooks onto the top of the pedal, when you push the pedal down it pulls the cable which in turn pulls the clutch fork

Yep Lance , He's taken a deposit on it Ratbox ,never thought Id see the day but he's got a few things in the pipeline .
The diamond T had got a new front on it from a later Diamond T and its like something from a Zombie truck movie - cool as and I wish I took a couple of pics.

Thnx a heap for the info on a cable ,yeah theyre real basic which I like the idea of so Ill go ahead, Would be good to hide the cable somewhat so will see how it goes.

Cheers

Today I set out to modify the dash ,no real big job but to many angles to nut it out without actually attempting it.
I started by trimming the peak out of the dash ,then a little more , then some off the new dash etc etc untill I could then see it could go but it didnt blend , so I trimmed out the passenger side of the dash to fit the other side of the donor dash hoping that would make it work ,
At this point the lower EK dash and two halved sides of the chev dash still werent working towards their common goal .
So then I went and cut the whole EK dash free of the car (the same dash I had smoothed ) and screwed all the pieces to timber for possible welding only to realise it wasnt looking any good
Ya win some ya loose some . Might have stuffed two perfectly good dashes

So now Im trying to develop a custom dash from all the pieces I have that will look OK...wish me luck because the design may mean the difference in going old school or not.
