Hi Ya
When you have the radiator out next time could you take pic to show me what you did with the rails, haven't done this yet but think I will have to, to get it low enough I'm using a HQ radiator and the filler is on the top I can move that but don't think I will still have room
Thanks BILLY

Thanks for the comments guys :D :D

G,day Billy , cut the rails down to the join , the passenger side I had to cut back far enough as to allow the bottom hose to go on and come around to the motor , cant remember where the hose comes out on the HQ ones , you may or may not need to do this .

The drivers side I just cut back about 50mm for the radiator , at this level the bonnet closes with about 10mm to spare , have this photo , will show you the passenger side cut out, hope it helps.

Can take some more for you ,when it comes back out , just let me know.

G,day All , have been busy chasing the rust demon again this weekend , have started on the passenger side now .

Made a new sill and fitted it , and had to replace nearly half this side , well it felt like it anyway  but have made some progress , bloody cold here today ,so have finished for the day .

Still got a bit more welding and grinding to do but the panel was starting to get a bit warm and didn,t want to buckle it .

Hope all you guys going to the Nats have a great time , and we want plenty of pictures from you all. :D :D :D

Any way here is some progress shots.

Hey Ratbox , on the other hand I was sitting there with a beer in my hand looking at it ,and thinking what the hell am I doing , if I had a car I didnt have to cut all this rust out , I could of been cruising in it by now :D , but at least I know when it is finished there will be no rust popping out in a couple of years, its all new bloody steel

G,day All
Here is the update on the old girl , have just about finished the passenger side on the body now , little bit to do at the bottom of the door corners ,but am going to leave this till i get it back on the roaster, am sick of crawling around on my knees.
Image

Got it straightened out , back to bare metal and a coat of etch primer on to it.

Moved back on to the chassis now for a bit of a change , finished welding the fish plates and gussets on to it , getting ready to start putting a new floor back into the old girl :D
Image

Started putting the tunnel back in , it is going to be painted the same colour as the outside of the ute to make it a bit of a feature, with carpet running down the sides .
Image

Next Job is to make up some tubs over the wheels and start filling in the holes :D , thats all for now .

G,day ITS SMEAGAIN , Yes brain hurts , some of my mates reckon I dont have one  , you have to keep thinking three steps ahead so the next piece will fit , getting a bit easier now , when I was building the chassis it really hurt , trying to get it so the ride height will be right and the wheels sat in the right position  , how you going with yours :?: you must know how it feels :D

G,day All

Got the panel made between the ute tub and cab and tacked in , even fitted a new interior light

Made up an area to fit the spare wheel and jack etc in the back and started making the infill panels around the outside
Image

Back on to chasing the rust demon this week , am going to try and sort out the front guards and bonnet

Need to replace the front peaks over the headlights and am thinking of extending them and the rear tail lights as well , taped up what I was thinking of doing , would like some input ,what do you guys think , good idea or not ?????

Bit bodgy on the taping , but you get the general idea.

Here's a rough idea of how it would look-bumper would need to be moved out as well though, unless you moved the tailgate (again  ) not a bad way to make some extra space in the tub though
