advice sending to sodablasters

Post by careyman »

Hi fellas/ladies, I have a ute stripped that I bought a while ago (someone elses project). the floor was said to be finished (rust cut out and replaced etc). I have decided to send to a soda blaster or similar so i can have that reasureing feeling that "I Know" it IS removed. this leads me to a few questions about this subject (as follows)

1. I realise there is a debate on what type of blasting is best I dont know Sh*T about any of them so any input on what to get done would b great. The ute I have is in fair condition (most of it is already in primer) So the job wouldnt be too hard as its not rusty all over the place (im guessing)

2. I have attemped to look, maybe I`m not checking the right part of the yellow pages cause I cant find many listing of workshops that offer this service so does any 1 with knowledge of the general area (hoppers crossing, werribee, etc) know of any decent places to send it?

3. what sort of costs am I in for?

4. i have seen pics of builds having the front end off and sending to blasters on a rotissery type arragement... I dont own one of these.. When the time comes, do I just arrange a truck to come get with front end still on? Is this sufficent a job?

Any way thx in advance

Soda is only good for removal of paint. It wont blast the rust out which Im figuring you want to do.

I strip the cars by hand with paint stripper and then I get them Sand/ grit blasted. This way the guy isnt getting the panels too hot and warping them.

The floors can be blasted without any prior work. The only downside is you will really find out how much rust your car has.
