Ok ..
The top ball joint on a HR can be replaced by simply undoing the 4 nuts and bolts and replacing the joint..
How do you replace the lowers??
They look like a press fit

If you haven't got access to a hydraulic press Reddo, a bush repair would be to knock it in with a socket fit around the edge and a big hammer.

Thanks guys.

Often wandered about them.
Too important / critical part of a car for me to attempt a home fix jobbie on it.
Will get a set of newys and give it to someone with the right gear to install them properly.

getting them out is easy just smash them with a hammer...
putting them in still on the car isnt to bad..put them in from underneath
get a big socket close to the ball joint size.so you dont damage the nipple
a piece of tube a bit smaller on the top of the ball joint and bash it in...
done heaps oveer the years...

Every holden HD to WB including torana had the same ball joints.

And appparently from mid way through FE right through to WB and torries all used the same wheel bearings...

Holden certainly made use of what they had lol.

Make sure you press them in squarely. It is possible to stretch or distort the hole in the wishbone and the ball joint will fit like a di@k in a shirtsleeve.

be careful i went with some local hd hr guys today and a lower ball joint failed
happenned to my brother many moons ago
get quality in that area with a split pin not a nylock nut that may get used more than once ..arrgghhh
to get out i hold by lower wishbone end and smash on gutter like im cutting a big tree
its got to come out square or youll be there all day
if its a loose fit 3 tack welds ....
