Alternative starter

Is there an alternative starter that can be used to replace the original starter on my grey motor? Either from another type of car or aftermarket.

I was under the assumption that a red starter would fit as one of the spare greys I have has a 2 bolt started on it but someone told me they wont fit
Better dead than red
