hi guys. just wondering if hq discs and calipers will fit hr stubs. or will it pay to get hq stubs?.cheers shane. :?

not sure if they will fit, but HQ stubs would be better as it also lowers the car about an inch!

the disc will go on but the calliper won't, you need to get the HQ stubs

i got front brakes soughted. :D now the diff. hr diff with ht v8 centre .do i just change the wheel cyl for smaller bore type or is there any other things to change :?: .would a fb handbrake cable fit a hr set up :?: cheers shane.

Are you using a VH 40/44 booster with front boost only?? if so you may get away with a HR drum wheel cylinder if thats what you already have.

If you are boosting front and rear brakes with the VH 40 or a mastervac system ( like Trev has ...... HK booster/master firewall mounted ) then you will have to most likely get the disc rear cylinders.

You may or may not need a proportioning valve in the system depending on how the braking bias ends up being when you have them tested on the drive on brake tester ( if they use them in Vic that is ?? ).

Have heard of some blokes needing a proportioning valve to get the brake bias right and other blokes that haven't needed to install one.You will possibly have to install a brake fail light as well ( don't know if Vic engineers require it ?? )

Autocables should be able to make up a custom cable setup to adapt a HR drum/drum diff to FB/EK.Just have to tell them what the vehicle is and the type of rear end and they can pretty much make up anything.

:roll: Sort of.

HQ stubs lower a HR front ended car by 17 mm ( 11/16ths inch ) which is the measured distance when comparing the HR stubs and HQ stubs side by side on a flat surface.

However with HQ stubs you have to use 14 inch rims so the amount of actual lowering is usually very negligable and it looks lower because the wheel now fills the guard more than the 13 inch rims did.

gday terry.im using hq stubs with hq rotors drilled to ht g stud pattern. ive got a brake master cyl and 7inch booster all from peter hoppers stoppers.diff is hr with ht 2.78 v8 centre just not shore if i needed the smaller bore wheel cyl :?: cheers shane :)

Sounds like you are using the 7 inch booster that a lot of the rodding shops sell as a generic multi fitment?? :? :?

If your brake master bolts to the booster then that assembly bolts to the firewall then esentially you are running a master/vac system, should be dual circuit for engineering??

I'd probably ask Hoppers for their recommendation with the brake/master but the HQ caliper ( from memory ) has a fairly large piston compared to earlier brake calipers so you may get away with the HR drum wheel cylinder.

I'll have to consult my HR and HQ shop manuals to compare the rear wheel slave cylinder sizes and get back to you but basically, if you are using a HQ/WB size caliper then as much as possible you should use a rear wheel cylinder size that is closest in diameter to the HQ/WB rear wheel cylinder to help with braking bias.

Like I said before,once you work out what you are going to try, see how the bias is on a brake tester as it may be OK as is and you may not have to install a proportioning valve if its around the 60/40 bias percentage.

The HQ master has a 1 inch diameter master cyl bore diameter as does the HR one so that is fine.

The rear cylinder bore diameter for HR ( in my gregories shop manual ) is 13/16th inch ( doesn't mention drum or disc for this size ) and the HQ rear wheel cylinder bore diameter is 7/8th inch which is pretty close.

So if you go for a HR rear wheel cylinder diameter of as close in size to the HQ one ( 7/8th inch ) then I'd say you should be right.

Price is right!!

The Disc rear wheel cylinders are 9/16th inch which is too small to use in conjunction with HQ calipers.
