vh40 small diaphram

Post by FCCOOL »

i need to get a small diaphram for a vh40 this morning, mine has split but everything else in the booster looks good. all the brake shops have said next week sometime if they can get one but i need it this morning, does anyone know of suppliers or have a booster they would sell that has a usuble small diaphram?
maybe a booster someone is going to get recoed that has a good small diaphram, this is the diaphram inside the round part u nder the cylinder with the vent held together with 4 screws.

i have found a vh44 booster here but allthough the cylender body looks exactly the same but the half of the valve body on the vh44 has less internal volume and less recess in the diaphram as well as a little d1ck bit sticking out in the centre that presses on the valve.
if i cut its dick off it would fit with the vh40 ones valve, the difference in recess is only minor, also the valve might fit from the 44, it might just be a different brand valve and diaphram.
but what i am wondering is if the vh44 air valve body has less internal volume to the 40 air valve body due to also having less internal volume in the can or is it just that the vh40 i have is a later improved version, what i mean is can i screw the vh44 air valve body cover thingo on instead of using the vh40 one.
both diaphrams are exactly the same on the side that faces the cylinder and the volume would stay the same on that side, the difference is in the side that goes to the valve leading to the vent outside with the filter.

Sorry don't have a spare.

Found this info when researching boosters. :D

A VH40 has a 9" diaphram housing and an output pressure of 1470psi........
A VH44 has a 7.5" diaphram housing and an output pressure of 820psi........
Most VH44 variants provide 780 - 950 PSI whereas the VH40 range produces around 1400-1500 PSI pressure.

Brake site said VH44 was medium strength and VH40 was high.
