Hi everyone I thought I'd post a few progress pics of my FB I picked up about 5 months ago as an unfinished project. We have named her Helenor, hopefully I will be spending some more time on getting her finished this year. Current plans are to install an injected 5ltr with turbo 350 and as can be seen by the photos have already shortened a VN Borg Warner diff. Still trying to work out the methods for posting so bear with me. javascript:emoticon('')
These are Stubteh dropped stub axles to suit commodore brakes, very good quality and engineering.
Before with V6 commodore rotors
Removing
After with dropped stubs and VN V8 rotors with mount for VT twin piston caliper
The heart and soul
VB rack and pinion steering
VN Borg Warner diff in place ready for welding the saddles
hmm thats sweet starting to wish i painted mine red now .. love the FB 2 tone done that way ... hmmm think i need another car now this one is near done .. haha like it will ever be done ?
Thanks Devilrod, the answer is simple really the T700 I got with the motor was a grinding mill inside all chewed out with lots of broken metal
The T350 came with the car so just had a quick freshen up and stage 1 shift kit and ready to go. I'm also running 3.08 diff ratios so hoping they will help on the highway.
Ratbox the fuel tank is apparently out of an XF ute, I will get some photos of how it mounted for you.
Thanks Trev
Cal the filler lines up with the tank and looks smooth I think anyway.
Thanks EKDave1962
Thanks V8EK4us I was going for the reliability of the injected motor. Your car is bloody awesome, hope you can get it finished in time for the nats.
Yeah I was hoping to use the T700 as the car will be more of a cruiser then bruiser but as the T350 was already there we'll run with that for the moment and see how it goes.
Is it a big job to get the T700 behind the red?
I like the way your car sits in the photo how have you done the suspension? Do you have any photos on this site of the build?
Painted up a set of Commodore chaser rims on the weekend and got the tyres fitted. I don't think they came up too bad although I'll probably cover most of them up with chrome Saturn moon discs that are on order. See how they look when they arrive, wheel sizes are rears 15 x 8 and fronts 15 x 7.
like the paint job there mate i want to carry the white down the rear from the roof aswell but i also want to bring the door pillars in white on my wagon nice job
