Are Brake hoses supposed to be different

Post by Finny »

I had to go back to the brake shop again today.
I had two new flexible hoses made up previously, but I also needed one for the rear end (the HR one was too short and the EK ones had larger thread and didn't fit the rear end socket).

I installed the new flexible brake hoses onto the HR disc brake front end. The passenger side fitted and worked fine on both left and right lock (I have another issue there, but will add it separately)

The drivers side however is too short (need about 30mm extra)
Both hoses were the same length, and they both attach to "L" brackets that are welded into position.

So the question is, are they supposed to be different lengths, or is something else wrong ? :? :? :? :?

without looking i'de say they would be the same :? as the brackets on the body and on the steering arm are in the same position but opposite sides of the car
i'll have a look on tuesday when i'm home, if nobody else comes up with anything before hand

I'd say even. Mine were although I have Torana discs. Can't see why they'd be different.

Picked up a slightly longer hose fro the drivers side. Seems OK. Still havenlt identified why it needed to be longer. Also got the new hose for the rear end. The thread the goes into the block on the diff is too long (won't go down far enough to tighten up on the copper washer).

Anyone know a place to find a spacer for the rear brakes. I'm missing one side. It's the bit removed in the second photo. Used in HR brakes
