exhaust manifold

Post by FB wannabe »

Hi gang,

I am starting to clean up a recon 138 grey motor that I bought off ebay. I am repainting a few bits and pieces and have noticed the exhaust manifold has surface rust all over it and isn't looking that flash. What options do I have to clean it up and make it look pretty?

I was thinking of getting it sand blasted but it will just go rusty again won't it? and I am assuming that paint will just burn / flake off.

Thanks

You can take it off the car, and hit it with a wire sander on an electric drill.
Will make it look reasonable nice again, with a black/metalic look with a bit of shine. :D :D :D 8) 8)

It you want to paint it, I believ you can use the extreme temp paint. Getting it to last is another thing.
I assume (like all other paint jobs) the preparation is the most important aspect to gettin git to last. :? :? :?

I have seen some really shiny ones, but not sure how they were done.

Or go Chrome. Should only cost 2 arms and a leg.

With my exhaust manifold I cleaned as much of the loose and flaky rust off as I could with the wire wheel on the bench grinder and then painted it with Hi Temp black combustion stove paint.

That was 9 months ago and the manifold is still black.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.
