well mines not a bench seat car but i have a b&m shifter in my car, its pretty handy cause it can be located anywhere that suits, and thats because it has a flexable shaft to work the gearbox ... if mounting location is your problem with the bench seat look at something like this!

If you want even more room, go column...
Lokar are another shifter to look at. Not cheap but come in varying sizes and have a very small base.

i was gonna go column but i think it would be easier to go with the floor shiftr .i like the aftermarket shifters just dont like how alot of them a plastic surrounds doesnt really match in with a 60s model car

That's the same reason I'm wanting to go with column shift with 307/T350.

Lokar have no plastic. You run a boot about 100-150mm in diameter, they come cable or linkage.

This is in my mates 32, its a Lokar... As you can see very simple and doesn't look out of place.

Can't see why not. I'm pretty sure you could get or make an adaptor if it doesn't. Probably find B&M stuff fits Lokar. Hopefully these questions can be answered by Rocket.

floor mount but the little i did read says linkage, B&M stuff is cable and then you buy a kit to fit to trimatic, if they do a cable one there'de be no dramas if not there'de be some fabrication, or maybe there is aftermarket brackets

Going by the website they have cable ones, none for Trimatic (no real surpirse there) but the cable looks similar to a B&M. Although it does look like nothing morethan a simple bracket to attach it to the box.
