Twas assemblin a grey motor yesterday and when it came to torquing the con rod nuts I stripped 2, so today on my travels I went to a nut n bolt joint and after about 10 mins of looking and a couple of questions I was told, " you won't get new ones, they don't make them" .
I can't believe this is true , so I went to an engine reco place and the bloke on the other side of the jump went out the back and took a couple off an old rod for me, life saver .
Has anyone herd of this, or have I been hornswaggled? , Trev .

Sounds like the first joint you went to were too lazy to help you Trev. You didn't arrive there 5 minutes before closing time did ya??
From memory they are a UNF thread but unsure as to what size.I'm sure any reputable engine shop should have had them.Only get them in high tensile grade ( not mild steel) and I'm sure they'd do the job as good as any original conrod nut would.
If you need anymore give me a yell,I've got a spare FX block here with genuine nuts on the conrods if you want some.
Trev get your torque wrench checked if you are stripping them
I snaped 3 rod bolts on a rebuild before I realised the wrench was out (I am a slow learner)

Craig, all the others torqued up no probs so it was just a couple of dodgy nuts, good thinking though , you might be able to be fooled 3 times but not 4 , Trev .
