Hi All, as you all know ive been giving "the pig" a new heart and shoe's etc. Ive put a complete new front end under her..
The problem is when i went to connect the brake hose's they were too short..So i went to a place to get them made longer by 5'' but the bloke didnt feel comfortable making them that long...
SOOO he told me that i could reverse the stub axle's and that they would be behind the stub axle instead of the front. BUT when i did that the Steering arms would do up again but i couldnt put the brake calliper on??
Any hint to help me??
Cheers Mark
Yeah mark I had a certain steering arm - think its the HQ power steer arm but Im just clutching at straws , the arm that holds the tie rod end and bolts to the stub , It tweaks out earlier for clearance.
I also ran a ball joint that was a little narrower to give clearance ...
and a spacer plate for the wheel could help as it did for me to clear the ball joint to balancers on the inside of the wheel .
Had a look in my HR front end parts bin Mark ( as per phone conversation)but couldn't find a HR disc brake hose to measure for you as a comparison to the one you have.
Would be easier with a longer hose if that is what will fix the problem.
The new hoses that I got for my bomb from that bloke I spoke about were actually longer than the originals by a few inches so maybe he can supply you with longer hoses for HR to FB/EK as well.
i'm just trying to think, i'm sure i've seen one of these setups before and they use a metal brake line that goes from the original hole in the caliper and then swings it around behind the stub axle to the rear of the car, then the flexable brake line connects to it ....

That would be a better way to do it. I've seen a couple too just can't rmember on what...
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
HK GTS breaks are the same as mentioned above. I have a set coming out of the brake service guy in a couple of days. I can take a pic when they arrive.
Cheers Theo Z...........................
Watch for the early bird, He might be just getting home.
