Pick your favourite body moulding style

Post by Finny »

I guess this goes a little against tradition, however I was looking for what I was planning to do 20 years ago. Have been playing with some rough images. Wondering what people prefer as a body moulding style. Will change the colour later, this was just for the concept.
If you have any other images to add, please do.

Option 1 is the original EK special, straight line moulding.
Option 2 is the original FB special, mouldings.

Option 3 is raised higher to allow two tone split.
Image

Option 4 is raised up towards the rear.
Image

Option 5 is lower down towards the rear.
Image

Option 6 adds large extra colour area.
Image

Option 7 wavers up and down.
Image

Option 8 adds extra at back
Image

Option 9 goes up and down at back.
Image

Option 10 - something different again. Added to this topic.

I'm going towards 5 or 6, but interested to see what others think.
Making it actually work and look right in reality is going to be a bit of a challenge. Especially with option 6.
At this stage doing it in Metalic burgandy with Pearl white for the contrast.

Yep option 5 looks great and may be a bit easier to do but with the colours you mentioned option 6 would look mighty 8) too.
Still confused...yep me too....hehe
They're all pretty good, that's the problem

If anyone has another idea, please let me know. If you don't have a picture, let me know how you think it might look, and I'll try to create it and add them. I already had a few others, but they weren't significantly different to the ones shown, or they looked pretty bad.

I presume option 1 & 2 are stock designs (no picture)? I don't mind option 6 but wonder how you would go getting the mounlding to wrap over the top of the quater panel near the c pillar. I like the picture in your other thread of the stock fb moulding at the front, then running down to the rear bumper, as per option 5

Yes, and it was my initial choice also, but I'm also tossing around Option 6. I like the idea of having a different colour when viewed from the back and the front. Unfortunately, looks like I have to source the moulding from the US in order to get something that will bend that much. Doing a two colour on the side will take a fair bit of extra work in painting, whichever way I go, and I'll only get one go to get it right and lined up with where the moulding will go.

Also looking at chrome for the back like on the Nomad's (Matty Martin look)

Good idea, I'll look into that one. Could be a far better option.
