bought this ek off ebay and i was wondering if there was anyone out there in fb-ek world that knew the history of it or has seen it before. it has a fb/ek club sticker on the back window. the guy i bought it off did not know much about it other than it was owned by a service station owner or something and he thinks that they built it. any information would be appreciated.. it has a hr front end and 202 motor, trimatic with a shifter and sigma bucket seats

it is a nsw club sticker but looks fairly old. i will try and get a pic to upload. i dont hink it has been registered for a long time. i know the paint job is somewhat different, but the body is straight and with bugger all rust. being a panel beater/spraypainter by trade it will be an easy resto for me to get it looking shit hot.
surely someone out there will recognise it... i hope

Looks like he or she wasn't sure what colour to paint it.
I wondered what Simmons looked like on a FB EK, and there not too bad.
Looks very familar, only tell now from the engine.
If the Accel cable wraps all around the steering box, and runs at the back of the rocker cover, and is XE 302 in design, I know who used to own it. One of my mates from Bass Hill.... If it is that car?.......But it was ALL painted in Firethorn Red running trimatic Auto and wide Torana chromies.
mate that car was originally a club member in its original format, the sticker is pretty old, I remember the car sat at the mechanic workshop on the intersection of cumberland highyway and the horsley drive at smithfield for many years, i believe slowly getting modified. The gentleman you bought it of aquired it a short while ago, and re sold it on ebay, to you i believe.
I looked at the car approx four months ago, asked here about the engineers possibility of the car with a 202, and was advised to put a 186 tops in it. It had all the trick bits, but the paint was not flash. I decided that it did have an old engineers report or rego paper, the car was a good buy (conisdering the amount of features). But no papers could be offered.
Id be going down to the mechanics, who is still there, and ask them the bigger questions, hey may even be able to tell you the full extent of the mods.
The car was originally a hydromatic shell, thats all i can say.
sorry for the time its taken me to reply but thanks RETRO for your post.
Now you mention the car sitting at the mechanics at smithfield, i remember driving past it all the time as i lived around the corner from there all my life. i will most definately go around there and see if i can find out more about my new ek. you mention about the 202 being a problem when it comes to engineering. why is that?

202 ( and above) needs a collapsible steering column at the very least in addition to the other mods required for 161 to 186 capacity increases.Thats how it is here in NSW but I believe the rules may be different in other states.
