Anyone Ever Done This Before? - FB Trims Moved Rearwards.

Post by DeadSled »

While on the HAMB tonight i came across this..

Image

And after i studied the picture for a few seconds.. i realised.. SHIT ! That looks similar to an FB trim.. and i've been pondering the last few weeks on a trim for my mild kustom EK sedan. I HATE EK trims.. its so bland and boring.. FB trim doesn't do much more for me either and i'm not gona get a Flash Trim kit either..

So i saw this picture and thought.. hang on.. why not just move the FB trim back a door?

Hhhmmm.. 8)

Also.. my EK trim is a bit of both cars.. FB trim holes on the front doors.. EK trim holes on the front gaurds.. either trim on the rear doors.. and then along the middle and on the top of the quater panels. What the hell?

Sounds cool , The profile will need some serious massaging as they just roll over the guard and on the door it will need to roll back up then over the top edge of the door .

Just quietly I had some FC guards on the EK tnight eyeing off its possibilities

I too thought of FC trims on the EK.. but alas.. i figured Nahh.. everyone would know what i'd done.. thats too simple. Spose.. FB trims moved back is simple too..

*Sigh*

I will just pick up a set of the trims as i don't have any just the rear quarter ones.. i know of a place up Ipswich way ;) Too much of the shit.. couldn't get enough FB / EK trims from there :P

And then i'll just have a fiddle around. I need to get a bonnet and maybe some front gaurds anyway.

You need to study the size and shape of the FB front door trims

There is not enough trim to go all the way up to the base of the rear window

A mate had Val Niel modify and extend an FB front door trim to do what you are thinking about many years ago for his front doors on his EK.

Just go to the wreckers you got your car from and check out other makes laying around, you never know what you can make fit...

Anyone thought about modifying Morris Major side trim into a flashline or hollywood kit or what about Mini-!!!!!! AH!!!! I'll be letting you all in for what I've got planned for Yamba!!!
What about FB trim upside down on the rear quarter and paint in three tone as early buick!!!
Just some thoughts!!

Thats an interesting ad from the paper space ace.Was always wondering what an FB/EK would look like with FC front headlights.Wonder where that car is now??

I've seen an FJ years ago with FC headlights and it looked good.

Any chance you could make the photo bigger so I can put my magnifying glass away??

Nick

Go and see Dave at Rock N Rods in Lochlarney St Beenleigh
He does great SS molding repairs and mods.
Talk to him about what you want to do, he may be able to help.

FB MAD, its a complete FC front cut onto the EK body.
Look at the front screen.

Space ace
Did Scotty send you that one??
I have the bigger scan on file.

Oh yeah, it does get bigger!!

I can see now its a complete FC front ( couldn't tell from looking at the small photo ).

The FJ with FC headlights was either in Custom Rodder or Custom Vans and Trucks or maybe a very early Street Machine mag as they were the only mags I bought in the late seventies/early "80's and unfortunately I gave most of them away years ago
