Ballarat Swap Meet photos.

Post by Sunnymick »

Hi ya all. First of all sorry to Ratbox for taking so long to post this life is generally flat stick and I was having trouble with photobucket. Anyway to get on with it. Sunnytim and I have been fairly busy. We Managed to attend possibly the largest 3 swaps in three weeks. First up was Toowoomba swap would be the biggest in QLD about two hours away from Brisbane never miss it. We generally do Friday as a rule but is on saturday as well. There were some good bargains there not too much Bric a Brac. Second swap on agenda was Claredon swap which was great did sat arvo and sunday. Got to meet the likes of Retro and others and also got to catch up with Mr Steve Jackson which was a long time coming. The following friday Sunnytim and I flew down to Melbourne( and flew back that night- cheap airfares) hired a car and shot over to Ballarat. When we hit Ballarat its was raining and cold(we are not used to that kind of weather in feb) but it did not seem to bother too many people were there in droves. What I love about Ballarat swap is the American import cars for sale there seems to be alot of guys doing it down there. Ballarat would be the biggest of them all I believe it takes 24kms to walk the whole thing. There was some good general parts for sale picked up two EK special badges with lugs for $10 the pair. Inside the grounds there was only one FB ute for sale painted similar to Ratbox van colour about $7000. Other than that not much else FB EK whole cars. We were there only on Friday so there could of been much more on Saturday. Hope you enjoy my story and photos. Cheers Sunnymick 8) 8)

wish i went :( better planing next year thanks for the pics and story
how do you know 24k's? i know it's HUGE i went about 5-6 years ago and same thing raining, and still it would have been 5 times bigger than any other swap i'de been to, there seems to be alot of empty spaces in the pics when i went no empty spaces, in the pic with the '57 wagon and caddy that area was full and shin deep in mud
i remember being glad me and the missus got a room with a spa after walking around there all day :)

Hi guys
space ace if I ever see any EJ I think of you now. No EJ cars to spin ya however I will keep my eyes peeled .
Ratbox I have heard from a few older guys that frequent that swap someone measured the distance I could think of alot of better things to do. Keep a eye on Virgin Blue airfares. You would be suprised what you put through as luggage. One year we taped and cardboard wrapped three sets of spats a taxi bar and got through as luggage. I noticed it was quieter than last year maybe next time we may do saturday. Its almost impossible to try and walk for 2 days. Tried to do it last year and my feet were killing me :(
gazrat we should try and catch you next time. :)

Looks like an exellent swapmeet, your lucky to get 500m of stalls in the west. Can't believe the coin being swaped for the old split screen kombi's
6000 gets you a clunker up to 35000-40000 for mint one's.

hey mick,

that wagon looks like its already for that sort of look just need the lowering blocks & some whitewalls...

hey ben those kombi's i've also heard are reeeeeeally expesive & i've also heard they barely get up hills/ steep drive ways... but hey, they look way cool...
