Impala Floor Shifter

Post by thropzed »

I just got hold of an Impala 3 Speed Floor shift. What I would like to know is how these are fitted to the side of the gear box and located on the floor. How big do I have cut the hole? Hints 'n tips? Here's a pic.

It is the wrong shifter for an FX to EK box

Craig has the correct one.
I have a full set of photos showing how it should be fitted to an FB EK but have not yet mastered the picture thing (I know its taking me too long)

As far as Speco H pattern shifters, I have two NOS ones still in there Speco Box!

Hey Paul, Do you want to offload one of your speco shifters or should I bring the car down for you to have a look at. I have broken my gear selector out of the colomn, so was thinking the easy fix would be to just floor shift it or find another colomn? So this shifter is no good for me? I still run crash box but can I change the linkages to run the Impala shift?
Thanks for your replies.

Thommo, That's Gold!!! I've taken done all the measurements and will see if I can put one together. I used to have a homemade one in my old Van very similar to this, except it had a right angle where it came through the floor and then another in the middle of the hump, so as not to be to close to your leg. The right angle served as a foot rest while cruisin!!
