fb van - ideas and suggestions wanted

after months of hunting, i think i have found an fb van to do up for my work vehicle!

im looking for a bit of advice on what i intend doing with it.
paint - pale lemon yellow, possibly matt finish
engine: 173/186 simple setup
interior - worry about that when i have more cash
budget - tighter than a ducks! 4500 max! (can it be done?)

im not aiming for a show car, just a car thats reasonably reliable, easy to maintain.

it will have the rear half wrapped in a full color sticker (im a graphic artist/signwriter) to help promote the business.[/img]

Sounds like a simple plan to me, price all comes down to how much work you do yourself.
Have you got the engine, frontend, trans etc? Trev

i have two engines, im goping over the van this week to see what its really like. spraying the van myself, mate is helping out with the mechanicals

Should be able to do it for that, I did mine for about the same. Alot of work but with help it can be done quite easily.

Workvan, I paid a couple of k to buy my Van and then paid someone to fit all new running gear, [disc conversion, Hr rear, new springs and shocks with those red rubber bushes] That cost me 4-5k . $500 for minor rust repair and I've driven him every day since. Good reliable work truck. I know people can have all this done alot cheaper but if you've got the time you can source and do it by yourself. For me I had a time frame to get it done and had work commitments so had to farm out the work. All up it took 7 weeks from barn find to daily work horse. Love the flat yellow, should look kool with a half vinyl wrap. Make sure it's oldsckool font, deep dish chromies with wide whites and a must is a front screen visor. A couple of thoughts.

well its come down to one van. but im not sure if its the one for me?
the body from the windscreen back is great, i have all front panels etc.. already. it needs floor pans and a small rust repair behind the passenger floor section (maybe the replacement floor panel goes all he way back?)
my problem is it needs the sub frame replaced. what is the best way to go about this (buying parts from rarespares or look to the castlemaine rodshop for a replacement) is replacing the entire thing a pain in the arse? am i better off looking for a different van?
other than that it looks all good no rust near fuel tank.any help would be good

its alot of work to pull front apart but if you do then you end up with a good car cause you can fix it all up ,ie oil leaks,rust ,rubbers ect and then you know its tidy under neath it mite take a day or two just to pull down or five months in my case im replaceing any thing i can still get with new so it lives for another 50 years
