P76 Discs

Post by (AUST)Mod »

Hey All,
Was wondering if P76 discs would give me more guard clearance to get the mag wheels onto the front?? Are they easily put onto Hr front ends with CRS drop spindles? Will they change my early holden stud pattern?
thanks very much
Andrew :)

Can answer some but not all of the questions.

This is all from memory when I had my HQ monaro with P76 discs a LONG time ago so there might be some errors.

The P76 discs will give you approx 1/2 inch extra guard clearance and use holden type wheel bearings however they are in HQ type stud pattern ( not early Holden ). However, DBA ( Disc Brakes Australia ) who still make P 76 discs will do a stud pattern change on new discs for a fee if you need early Holden stud pattern.

They should go on to HR fronts but would most likely need an adapter for the caliper.

If you want some correct answers on this conversion there is a company in Melbourne called Hoppers Stoppers. They have a website with some answers to frequently asked questions.I'll see if I can find a phone number for you.

They are brake conversion specialists.

in standard form P76 discs will be &*#@ pattern
if you have HR discs i don't think you will gain anything as they are narrower than HQ and the P76 1/2" gain is on HQ brakes
i think you only have 2 choices both of which i don't think you'll like :(
1. lift the suspension
2. sell the wheels and stick with the steelies
