While I've been putting together a game plan for the conversion of the EK's running gear, I started thinking about a few areas that are starting to show signs of rust.
All in all, the car is pretty damn clean, barely any rust to speak of (at least that's visible...
The two main areas I'm talking about are as follows:
1. The channel of the drip rails on the roof...in some spots, a red/brown rust stain is starting to bleed through the white paint.
2. In the small area where the chrome trim on the sides of the the rear window meets the lowest part of the chrome trim of the drip rail...on the rear most edge of the C pillar. Hope that makes sense.
I don't have photos yet, as it's dark out and I'm just sitting here mulling over it, hoping you guys will know where I'm talking about.
Anyway...it's obviously something that I want to catch sooner rather than later, as no doubt what's hiding under the paint/rubber could be way worse than it looks, and I'm wondering what's the best way to deal with it?
Will I need to remove the glass, strip back to bare metal around the frames, rust treat and then re-paint, or is there a simpler way of treating it while I wait for a time when I can actually afford to do the whole car?
Let me know what you think. I'll try to post photos tomorrow just in case you can't figure out the areas I mean.
Cheers, Scott
