EJ/EH wiper/washer switch - suitable or not?

Hi,

Can someone please advise... Can an EH/EJ wiper/washer switch be successfully fitted to the EK/FB Holden without modifications of any kind? This would be used to control the existing EK wiper motor and a generic after-market electric washer unit? Questions that come to mind include:

1. Will the EH/EJ switch fit the hole in the dashboard without drilling the dashboard or padding the switch's rod?
2. Will the dashboard mounting nut fit onto the switch's thread that is supposed to protrude through the hole in the dashboard?
3. Will the decorative bezel, having "Wiper" written on it, fit without issues?
4. Will the EK wiper/washer knob fit onto the switch without modifications?
5. Will the switch be able to give the EK wiper motor a two-speed function or will it remain just on/off?

If the EH/EJ switch is a viable option, then I may have found someone who can make them brand new, as opposed to paying GreedyBits a zillion dollars for a worn out old one.

They will work, up to at least HR, so yes. I've used one with the centre button for squirter in the past by adapting to the FB EK knob.

Thanks Errol62. By "adapting to the FB EK knob" was there something that needed to be done to make the switch adapt to the knob, besides adjusting the fastening screw that lies within that knob? As for the push-button, I was thinking of finding suitably-sized stainless steel button from a click pen at the nearest stationery store. Could that work?

I adapted the centre button from the fb ek knob to operate the push rod, by attaching a short length of plastic tube to the end, which was an interference fit over the rod. The factory centre button is just an interference fit in the knob and can be worked loose. I drilled it and fitted a self tapping screw, which I then somehow turned down to accommodate the centre button. Primitive but effective.

I am now going to a late model motor from a BA &*#@. It is virtually a bolt fit, using the original motors base plate. It uses a different switch, which also has a squirter circuit, but operated by turning the knob fully clockwise. The motor and switch are about $70 each brand new. Probably I will adapt the original crank. So unless you can do the engineering yourself you need a donor original motor. If ou have one that is dead this is a good option.

You can buy an aftermarket switch that is a straight bolt in - bezel fits, squirted function is identical, knob screws straight on etc . I have a couple at home , if you can wait until I get home on Saturday I can tell you the part number.
It is on here on a thread somewhere but I can’t remember which thread.
