G'day everyone, it looks as though i will be making a crossmember for my 202/trimatic conversion- CRS and Rare Spares don't do these crossmembers anymore, only i haven't made one before. I read on a previous entry that someone modified a HQ crossmember for their conversion, just wondering if anyone had any tips, ideas or photo's to help me in doing the conversion easily, cheers Craig

G'day Craig, just saw your post and have to say that I did make one for my FB but I have put it to one side until I change the grey motor I got from you. Give me a call if you want to have a look at what I made. Im certain that this is just another small problem and with the help of eveyone can be easily fixed, Cheers PAT :)

WTF you can buy these things?
After all the hassle with mechanics and shit your saying I could have just bought one?

why dnt ppl tell me these things

Find my old EK thread, there will be some pics of mine in there.
Also there is a grey motor to trimatic conversion kit available which adapts the trimatic to mount to the original gbox mounts. That could work too.

The 186 is longer then the grey, and I'm in NSW so they are fussy about what they pass for rego. I was told about the HQ crossmember, but was wondering if you need to weld plates on the side as well and bolt it on.

Mine is nearly the same as DR's except made with tube.
I have seen an extended chassis made out of RHS steal to go just past the end of the gearbox and a cross member bolted to that, very neat, Trev 8) .

Im in the process of making a crossmember for a 5 spd,did you plate the top DR,it looks a lot simpler than what I had in mind :)

Yep, there's plates on top similar size to the underside and the bolts are tacked so the crossmember can be dropped without taking the carpet out.
