Sedan Refresh

Finally bit the bullet and removed the bonnet of the sedan

It’s been one of those annoying things I’ve not been happy with since I bought the car
Different colour, poor prep under the paint and now I can see why it blistered.
The entire bonnet was skimmed with bog some of it coming off in big chunks, surface rust under it all. The blisters worsened over time. Highlights the importance proper prep.

Haven’t painted anything as big of a bonnet so should be fun. Another days rubbing first to remove all the bog before metal prep and epoxy.

Updates soon

I think the problem will be the old pink spray putty
and needs to be removed

Yes I think so Rob bog over primer from what I’m told is not good practice, over epoxy is supposed to be fine.

Hi Greg

I’ll be using KBS rust blast as I have some in the shed. Put it on the wagon May years ago and it still holding.

Paint is acrylic it’s and acrylic is going back on as top coat, 408 epoxy then high build.

Drop spindles are on the bench with 3” lowering blocks Image

What we use is a one shot hi-fill primer

This is what I have in the shed

Looks a lot to paint a bonnet doesn’t include cutting compounds

The Epotec 408 grey green. Got the same stuff and it doesn’t have as many nasties in it. Because the epoxy primer is non porous I suppose you can bog over it I don’t know.

So fb delivery says he uses a high fill etch. So would that be epoxy and therefore non porous? That’s what I like about the 2k epoxy.
