"He can fit the belts without drilling that ugly hole through the B pillar on the ute."
Cool!
Is it possible to do this in a sedan also? No frankenstien bolts?

The search continues...

Yes, it's possible. they cut a "U" shape and fold down a section of the pillar sheet metal, weld in a thick metal plate with either a nut welded to it of if the plate is thick enough that tap a thread straight into it. Weld it all up and the jobs done bar the paint.

Sounds like a neat job.
Ok now that we have that sorted how do you fit retractable belts in a ute ( or a sedan for that matter) ??
Where does the retractor reel sit so it doesnt foul on the seat when the seat is pushed back.
I am lead to believe you have to fit retractable belts and a few other updates like heater/ demister, disc brake front, etc when repowering with a 186 etc. in NSW.
Even if you dont have to fit them it would be good to be able to get into the ute and not have to untwist and wrestle the lap sash belts like a floppy snake every time you go to buckle up.

Couldn't you fix it for him Trev?

Just save the photo and resize it to 200 pixels wide. Upload to Photobucket and your in business.

If it's all to hard send me the photo and I'll fix it.

If I did it for him hows he going to learn to do it himself? It took me a couple of tries but now it's no problem. I'm sure reddo would like to know how to do it himself :D ,
