*WTB URGENT* Lucas generator and regulator suit grey EJ

Post by DanFranko »

Hiya Holden Guru's

I am hoping one of you kind souls can help me out. My gennie has finally crapped out in the EJ, and the replacement i built...well let's not go there. Anyway those gennies/reg were actually a bosch off an EH red, which required modifying the bracket to suit the grey.

I want to go back to a lucas setup, so i need both the gennie and the regulator. I would prefer something that is known to be a good runner, but i could settle for a pair that need to be rebuilt and go down that route.

I can get the pair off ebay from our favourite seller, but i will end up close to $800 in the hole...seeing i don't have exchange units tho, its probably not all that unreasonable?

Would prefer a perth pickup, but happy to pay packing/post for worthwhile units.

Any help greatly appreciated, as the ol girl is now paralysed in the garage

cheerio and thanks

Hey Dan,
Reckon I've seen a few of those bits advertised on Gumtree but suspect there nowhere near you (other side of the map). Post a heavy genny wouldn't be cheap!

Regards
Stephen

Thanks Stephen. They do seem to pop up intermittently, but for the gennie at least, the postage is probably as much as the purchase price!

The hunt continues!

G'day Dan,

I'll take a look in the spare parts department on the weekend, though I suspect the only Lucas unit I have left is the one that the NRMA let the magic smoke out of  :( .

Sorry Dan - as suspected, the only Lucas gennie I have has been burnt out (needs a rewind). Welcome to it if it helps. The only decent spare I have is a Bosch.

Hi Dan,

There are some genies on Gumtree, unfortunately in Vic but price is reasonable. I have dealt with this lady before and she was very helpful and a bit flexible on price too. Might be worth checking on freight to the West?

Thanks again to the forum members that offered to help. I now have a regulator and have sourced a correct C40 gennie for an EJ from over east. With luck all will bolt on and work, if not i now have what I need to get rebuilt.

Cheers Dan
