Sunvisor

Post by EffBee »

Hey guys,

Just a quick question in regards to removing the chrome moulding strip on the front of sunvisor. Is there an easy way to remove it without doing damage to the visor or the strip? There is some pitting and rust along all the moulding and I would like to be able remove the chrome strip to get to it.

Any and all suggestions welcome

Cheers

Its pressed on. I doubt you will get it off without stuffing it.
Hi way sunvisors put a mould on the front of the visors they make. Im not sure its the same profile.

I recently took mine apart and didn't stuff it - no doubt that'll happen when I go to put it back on! Working from the underside I gently prised the "roll" of the stainless strip off the visor at one end and then, slow & steady, worked my way along the visor lifting the strip and prising where needed. Came off easier than I thought it would (it's quite soft) but of course putting it back on might be a totally different scenario. Good luck! :smile22:

Hi Greg,

If you do get it off without stuffing it I think it would be very hard to get back on. I would leave it on and clean out the rust best you can. Maybe treat with POR15 if you are really worried about rust coming back.

Yeah, cheers guys,I didn't think it was going to be easy. Think I might just leave it on and clean the rust up and treat it as best I can.

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated.
