Havent posted any pictures for a long time so thought i better update on the progress of the ute what went from a quick restore changed to a detailed restoration.

The ute was paint striped to bare metal love the shinny look



Sprayed in Etch primer





With a sample of the colour Tuscany Yellow



Next it went to Just Rust in Melbourne to have inner and outer sills replaced new k frames and extensive welding and rust repair work







they did some great work managed to weld the original circle pattern on the new inners



Got the new dash welded in thanks to Blacky!



Back home prep work started drivers side complete in black guide coat







Final stages on passenger side to go

Hey Stingray the colour is the original colour and will be done in 2pac. Going with the semi original theme original colour bench seat but with rims and a hot period grey

I reckon the FB/EK ute is the best looking ute evermade especially when the roof gets chopped!
Mate your car is coming up trumps keep the photos coming as well.

Can I ask how much the rust repairs cost and how long it took?

Hey Greg the rust and welding work took approximately 2 months but that was over Christmas and New Years so they were closed for a week or so. All up the work came to $2200.00 plus i supplied rust repair sections (my best friend works at Rares) Compared to quotes of $5000+ I was quite happy with the price and workman ship

Hey Thommo your actually my inspiration for the Grey! Im keeping the three on the tree, in regards to the grey recently purchased the alloy finned rocker cover and twin carby set up, has extractors already next plan is to get a cam for it and a straight through pipe and thats about it. It will only come out on weekends so i just want a lumpy note while cruising

That sounds like it will a sweet cruiser,
Put an alloy/steel timing in it &
lighten the flywheel.
With a dyno tune after running-in,
That combo should give you no trouble at all.

Kingaz, nice ute and a great price for the body work. Ive got a hotie(grey in my FC with a real lumpy cam, shakes like shit on idle!! Ive got twin carbies but will be going tripple SU's in a couple a months. I sprayed mine 2pac about a month and a half ago and it came uop a treat in old original colours. Good luck with the ute and cant wait to see the grey package yr building

I like your second pic , Mine was undecoated in the same colour years ago .
Its great to see the ute being done and I agree with the comment of EK utes being the best looking of all utes Id make love to mine if it could cook dinner
