Have your say - please
Hi Guys
I am after some ideas on colours for my FB van
I am open to metallics, pastels, pearls, anything.
Here are a few pics to tell a short story of where we have come from.
This is when I purchased the van in 1998 - $3000 This is after the repairs from a car accident in 2001 - a lady pulled out in front of me resulting in new guards, bonnet, stone tray, rad support and all the other front end stuff From here the van got pushed in and out of a few sheds for the next 11 years and then finally in early 2012 I decided to get my finger out,
308, trimatic, 10 bolt, and everything else required to get the mod plate and register it. The paint held up ok, but there was small patches of spider rust appearing, check out just above the tail light
So after 3 weeks and only a few short drives, I pulled it off the road and to pieces again - to do the paint
It may sound like I have done it the hard way, but I had the engineering done in QLD (where the car was) registered it there and then had it trucked over to WA (where I now live)
This is the current interior

Re: Have your say - please
All of the chrome is good or has been re done, full length hood lining is the same colour as the seat (lighter colour), and I have a set of Convo Pro's to go on once painted
I have looked at pastel aqua with a blue pearl - looked a bit girly, bright burnt orange, voodoo blue etc and keep coming back to the bright metallic blue's.
A penny for your thoughts!!

If it was me I'd do nothing more than repair what's needed and have those areas blended back in provided I had spare paint. Then drive the sucker.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Mark, having seen the van in the flesh, I reckon it looks great in the blue. The convo's would really set it off too. Are you happy with the trim job Paul did for you? I'm thinking about using him myself. Cheers, Steve
Re: Have your say - please
Looks the best in the 1st pic. I respect what you've done with the van, but metallic paint just doesn't do it for me (with very few exceptions).
I'd paint it in an original FB colour. Maybe add a pearl to it.

I vote for original colour - skip the pearls though. Just keep it clean and simple.

I'm with Devilrod, touch up and drive - lots of work to do a colour change

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re paint same colour, maybe look at airbrushing a period style flash kit. Just to freshen the look of it and break up the blue. Looks cool how it is too.

Ditto. The metallic blue looks killer, and pops against the chrome and the trim colour. Plus you wouldnt have to respray the dash, engine bay etc.Devilrod wrote:If it was me I'd do nothing more than repair what's needed and have those areas blended back in provided I had spare paint.
