Eating Bog
Hey guys just found a HUGE patch of Bog in a project. I hit it with a Strip it disc but after 10 minutes and looking like frosty the snow man I threw the towel in. Is there anything other than a grider that will "disolve" the bog ie chemicle???
Or should I just leave it for the panel beater and he can take care of it with the sand blaster? Its in the middle of the rear quater so the blaster may heat the panel up too much. In parts its 20mm thick! Obvisously the previous reasto was a cock up!!! Idears???

Run what ya brung and hope it's enough
Re: Eating Bog
You can heat it up with a propane torch a small section at a time and it will go soft enough to scrape it out. I think some people also use a heat gun, but not sure if this will get it hot enough to soften it up.
Enjoy

Enjoy

Re: Eating Bog
Just keep at it with the stripper disc.
Sandblasting wont touch it.

Re: Eating Bog
I spent 2 hours yesterday striping the pas side inner engine bay
And another 2.5 hr today putting the bog back in haha
Should have just give her a wet and dry and repaint would have been a Lot easier
But at least I know what I have got

Re: Eating Bog
Dont hit it fom the inside with a hammer. All you will do is stretch the metal and add another couple of hundred dollars to you bll.heating the bog does work but heat the panel from the inside. The bog should separate from the steel. Again if you get it too hot you will make more work for the beater.
