Can someone please tell me if these little "dents" on the panel behind the bumper are meant to be there ? The car's had a whack in the backside sometime in it's life, and when I got it the bumper was pushed up against the panel.
I'm beginning to think they are factory dents! Mine had them, the one I parted out has 'em and my mate who has an EK said all three sedans he's had had similar dents...

Don’t you find it Funny that after Monday(M) and Tuesday(T), the rest of the week says WTF?
was the paint chipped where the dents were ,if not its meant to be there ,ive got a feeling they are for clearance and it would be a shame to fix it then dent it again.
id try the bumper on for size.

Definately not factory. Checked both of my wagons 1 doesnt have them the other does and they are different sizes. The bumper bracket is still on the car and is bent. Guess what the bracket lines up with.
Nah, Cal - they are the result of the bumper irons making contact. If you take a closer look in pics 2 &3 - there's evidence of the over-rider having made contact with the end panel as well......
Like Stewart, I left mine - the potential for damaging the factory welds and sealing by attempting panel beating was beyond feasible risk for consmetic gain.... hidden by the over-riders. It might also "just" save you need from repairing paint if it gets nudged again..... bog will fill it - but a further nudge is only going to push that dent further in.... and crack the bog/paint....
The fact that most have gone to their vehicles to take a peek - states to me that they are not obvious, to the uneducated observer....
I'd leave the dents from the irons and only clean up the end panel....... your call.....
Just whilst we're on the subject - take a good look inside the rear beaver - there should be a central drainage port between it and the floor.
The support braces each side of it are also potential places for water to build up.... I drilled two very small holes in those "wells".
Take particular note of the two ports fore and aft of the lower rear side quarter panels... these are also "usually" blocked - they are best cleared out from below, trying to clear/inspect them from inside the boot is difficult - they are hidden under the floor mat and are "pointed" inwards towards the fuel tank - getting at them from underneath with a piece of wire and a vacuum cleaner is the best method I have found.
Thanks Rosco. I'll probably get Dave to leave the dents there anyway, as you can't see them once the bumber is on.
My boot does have a few more drainage holes than usual. When I looked at the car before buying it I noticed a pool of water in the boot in both rear quarters. Got the drill out as soon as I got home. . Oddly enough the boot and rear quarters would be the best part of that car, with minimal rust. That other spot you talk about is pretty good as well , no rust that I can find. I have seen that area on a few other cars and it looks like Swiss cheese
