My yearly QLD car fix..

Post by Sputzwagon »

G'day all...
Well I'm back home in cold old Termeil.. after the winter warmth of sunny Queensland (Brisbane area that is)..
So here are a few happy snaps taken on my pilgimage of steel...

Firstly it was a rather long day leaving home at 4.45 am to get the EK up to Pete's in the Blue Mountains (thank's again Pete & Kim  ) while I was away..then a boring train trip down to Sydney & over to the Airport for the flight to Brisbane (gotta love air travel only 1 hour (ish) to Brizzzy  ) was met at the Brisbane end by Fiona while Tony did laps of the car park in the "Common-dore". These poor folk had to put up with me for five days..Thank's again you two..I had a ball  . After I un-loaded the bags and settled in, it was down the road for Pizza (& free Italian wine :D ) for dinner .
Next day (Friday) after I saw Tony & Fi off to work I went out to capture a few picks of Tony's FB...
Image
Image
Since I had the use of Fiona's XY? Image
I think Falcon I took a drive over to Paul Kelly's and say hello...stayed there for a few hours then back to Tony & Fi's just in time to see Tony driving in the Driveway in His beloved Tank.
Image
After a bit of late lunch Tony showed me his vast range of car's 'n' bits then pulled out his Dad's old Honda Z50j "fishing bike" so I could have a test blast on it. Now this bike was new in 1975 and only has 90 miles on the clock!!! Tony always wanted to ride it as a kid but his Dad never let him until this year he gave it to Tony (Onya Peter. ).
Image
Well not long after I started the little machine, it started to cough 'n' splutter so it was on top of the BBQ for a check on the small carbie..
Image
It turned out that the 1975 air filter had disintergrated and the carbie sucked in what was left of it (a fine granulted foam grit) so after a clean & blow out with the compressor & another home-made air filter it was going again..
Image
(note: the fine riding style, Rossi couldnt do better!   ..P.S. Fiona, I'm not riding it on the road..it just looks like it..anyhoo...I was'nt speeding... it CAN'T do it..plus I have a valid bike licence. :wtf: )
After being a big kid it was off to Tim's place to see his new Black FB standard, got there just in timeto see Tim replacing the flat tyres with his rare set of "Pink-walls" so it could roll into his shed for it's long road back to the living. It really IS as rust free as he says it is! Great score Timbo!
By this time the sun was setting and it was out to Brodie's Chicken shop to get some roast chicken for Fi..(funny thing is they had run out of chicken  :wtf: )..then we were of to Munchies for the Friday 'car thing'. 8)
If you hav'nt seen the Brisbane car scene before it's a culture shock..just about everything is here from rods, customs, classics, resto's, Zimm-mobiles, rustbuckets & everything else in between..all parked or cruising by and very few (if any dickheads), a great night out for a feed and look around.
Here are a few shots I took..(note: I'm no photographer & quite a few shots are blurry..half by my bloody hand tremours and just plain bad techineque!! ).

Hey Scotty. It was really good to have you up for a few days, and thanks for fixing my mini bike. It goes so well now it's even a little bit scary! (A little bit!) You also brought the good weather wih you! I'm off down to the cars tonight, so I'll say Hi to the guys from you. Im glad you had a good time and you've done some more work on Sputzy Sputzwagon. Hi Pete, Scotty was happy when he came to see you guys as he said dinner was on the table! God bless Kim! My tummy is rumbling, and my Fairlane has some petrol, so I'm off. Regards
Tony.

Hey Devilrod. I think you may have given me a manual heater tap years ago from a maroon EK that ended up with a 265 Valiant engine in it. If so, thanks. I only changed it lately to one of those chinese ones because it got hard to turn and threatened to break. If this wasn't you, please disregard this transmission. I have to go to work now (5.30 a.m. start on saturday) so I'll try to coax life out of my Fairlane (lazy battery!) The trick is to SNEAK up on it! You guys must have a worse time down in VIC. Aussie Eddo. I'll be at Browns Plains tonight. Look for Green Tank Fairlane With Blabber Mouth in Ugg Boots and red Lumber Jacket (From junk shop in Wonthaggi Trev!) I may see you there. Best Regards
Tony.

I sold it with the grey. So in a roundabout way you got it off me. , that was actually a mate of mine who bought the car off me.
