Replace 186 back to 138

Hi guys,
I have brought a 1962 EK Special and it has a 186 red motor with a 4 speed floor shift in it and I am wanting to replace them with a 138 grey motor and a column shift manual as I am wanting to restore the EK to as original as I can. I was hoping I could get some info about what I need to do to convert it back to the original driveline. I realize I will have to repair the tunnel as well as replace the motor and box but not sure if when the 186 and floor shift was put if they had to change the front suspension in any way or changed the steering column and anything else I have most likely over looked or just have not thought of.
Also and most importantly I need to buy a 138 grey motor and column shift manual so please let me know if anyone has a motor and/or box for sale in the Melbourne area in any condition and I will be rebuilding them anyway. Finally I am also after some info about when I come to register my EK with the 138 grey motor is it as simple as just updating the engine number at vicroads when I take it there to be inspected, seen it is the original size engine the EK came out with just with a different engine number?

I reckon the best thing to do would be stick an ad in the for sale section and see if anyone wants do do a swap for a grey motor and box ? Theres way more people going grey to red than red to grey .

.......... although you might be better off keeping it because once you drive it you might want to go back to the red ........

I would suggest you contact the club and join up, go to a few meetings and get yourself known face to face with other active club members, they will help out.
Unfortunately not alot of club members use this forum ( just because people are forum members doesn't mean they are FB EK club members).
