I think my memory's fading, I've got a few questions about red donks

• Are all red motor standard pushrods the same size ?
  Are all red motor standard oil pumps the same ?
  I think the old glass top fuel pump preasure is around 7psi, will this be enough to run a 465 four pot Holley ?

Be careful with the choice of carburettor, this is an area where "bigger is not always better" and I do realise that like any engine modification the carby choice is normally governed by cam size, head mods etc.

Chopped's advise is good - the 465 Holley is good enough to feed a 202 screaming at 10,000rpm (@80%VE). Not a bad choice for cars that run at WOT all the time, but can be a pig down low (venturi restrictors will help a little).

The glass top fuel pump is good for 9gph @ 4.5psi. This will feed a Holley (Holley inlet valves are OK for 3-7psi), but will start to starve the motor when you get to around 115HP (assuming 0.5lb/h/hp fuel loading).

hi push rods are different 186 you need 186 and so on
i have a 465 on my car
192 10:5 comp yt head ported 616 crow cam (xu1) and so on
it needed to have the power vale changed to block off and bigger jets i had no vac in manifold (4)
i all so had it on a 173 (tired) extractors and 35604 crow cam and it went ok had a 3.5 power valve vac was (8)
i have a glass fuel pump and so far all good
oil pumps are same i think

Im no expert on any of this just a few pick ups from my build.

A Small block fuel pump will bolt strait on and give you more fuel,if you need it, like basic. green's, there are some tough reds with glass pumps on them. (performed & won at Bathurst)

Some good push rod info on the Comp Cams web site, they also sell checking push rods. There are a lot of variables -----block deck,head deck,cam, rockers ect

I have some 202 & 186 std rods here ya can use to check with.

thanks for re-gigging my memory guys

I've come across a 186 block +60thou, it's got a ground crank (,10thou) and a nice set of lightweight flat top alloy pistons... all with new rings and bearings.

The engine build was started a few yrs ago by an old fella but he never completed it so it's all still new.. and no rusty bits ! I got it part assembled for $400.00. I'll be pulling it down and checking everything before going further with the build.

I've go an old YellaTerra clone (superflow) head that I've had for about 30yrs, it;s at the local engine reconditioners (Galloways) getting cleaned up and ready for ULP with new valves, springs, seating collars etc.. (,$770.00). I've ordered a Crow cam (,667 "I think" $277.00)and a 465 Holley, manifold, air filter and linkages (, $798.00) from Hume Performance.
The block is missing a few bits n' bobs which is why I was asking about what fits with what.

you will need a converter if auto of about 2000 2500
i have a gemini in mine and i think i will need a bigger one

The ute's a 5 speed manual
I checked the cam and it's a crow 35667, I've ordered one through the guys doing the machine work on the head for $229.00
