This thing was an authentic prototype, used to test certain trim levels for the forthcoming Caprice

This FB had just arrived, and wasn't on display yet. 66,000 miles, and unrestored.

That FB steals the show

There's a very similar one for sale just now on Carpoint. I'd reserve judgement on some of the owner's claims re the plastic on the seats being original & not having been re-painted etc. until I'd found out more about its history and spoken to the owner.

I wish they'd change those hubcaps on the delivery van though

I have known this car since the mid eighties and have extensive photos of the card.

Yeah Wayne, it's in pretty good nick. I had a look underneath and apart from 50 years of grime, it looks like it did when it left the factory.

Not sure about the paint, though personally I couldn't give a rat's if it's been repainted or not 8)

Cal, most people who cant tell if something has been repainted, don't give a Rats
It's mostly the ones that can tell that do!

I was sort of sus about the paint, coz it did look a bit fresh, though my point was (in my opinion) it doesn't make it any less of a car whether it had original paint or not

I'm not sure that I could tell if a car had paint, I mean if the paint is 'perfect' then it's almost certainly had touch-ups even if the car has never been driven, because with time it will break-down over the factory panel welds regardless of how well it is maintained.

To me originality (not just the paint) makes a world of difference to the price that I would pay for the car.

As far as the price goes, all I can say is :silent: foonf gorfl ood falfoo oo ee :silent: and you can quote me on that

This car did look repainted, though I wasn't 100% sure, and I don't like to claim something unless I'm certain.

That's my point though . For the purpose I buy a car like this for, having original paint is not high on the radar. That's what I meant by not giving a rat's if it's been painted or not.

I agree though, a fully "original" car is worth more.

Yep, exactly. We all have different things that we appreciate in the cars. In my case (and I'm sure I'm not an orphan) this has changed over time and is likely to change again.
