Oh dear, Dave...car models are a dodle compared to sailing ships!!! Get ready for weeks of cursing & swearing!!
I've a model of the Endeavour here un-built I bought for Helen about 7 years ago...she was going to build it once this place was sorted out...(now it's up to me!!! )....

I guess im an old man but scotty is older
Mick most guys our age built models when we were kids. Today all those type of hand skill hobbies have been stuffed up by computers. Its all instant gratification. Thats why so many off the kids are deadshits today.
Ive got a few sailing ship models under my bełt now.
I did scratch build a thirties racing plane for the model nationals a few years ago. I came 2nd in the static judging but smashed it when the engine cut out. Its was beautiful.
My wife ran around the flying field picking every tiny piece of it in the hope it could be put back together.

i worked on the real one over here in freo when it was being built
My wife Helen sailed on it from Ulladulla to Eden last time it was here...she had a ball...once it arrived in Eden we stayed a few more nights as they could'nt get "ship keeper's" to stay on board while it was in port...I have very fond memories of those times.
