Holden Milestone & Memories ----

Hi all, thought id share this with you all. Ordered a great book through the Just holdens magazine, they produced this Holden Milestone & Memories - Vol 1. It's such a great read if you r into the early days of GM-H production & behind the scenes stuff... I'll post up a few more pages once I get a little more time, but heres something to wet the appetite.

Its a photo from Nov 22 1955, while the FJ was still in production. Look how different the Front grill could of been on the FBs ??????

I don't like the front end or the tail lights, Looks like it was grafted of an '59 Oldsmobile with the windscreen like that
If you notice the mock up as two different A pillars
I think they got the end product just right.

WOW!!! i didnt notice that. good pick up. the article say its a photo of an actual car ???? wonder why they are 2 different A pillars ???

I just notice the slight indentation top of door panels near handles???

I think the design was probably right up to date in 1955 (maybe even a little ahead of it's time?). The styling was the main reason that the poor old FB got a mention in that book by Mark Davis called Lemon-60 Heroic Failures Of Motoring I guess that makes the EK even more outdated Personally, I don't think Mark Davis knew what he was talking about

Have to agree that the final FB styling was better than the 1955 prototype.

Time for a confession though (cover your ears Mr Jackson); I actually really like the look of an FB combined with the EK grille and bonnet bar, just like the blue & white FB/EK on this site's banner. Schweeeeet.....

You would think that they knew the shape would've been out of style by the time the car was released 5 years later. Basically they were designing a car for release in 5 years time, styled on cars built in '55 i suppose they got it right in the end, coz it sold like hot cakes

HA!! i was thinkin the same... but what r the chances of it being real ????... it doesnt look like a clay model. it looks real to me ??? painted even??? Steve might be right in GOld ???

The clay models looked quite "real" when they were painted.

Plus it would be hard to drive with no interior (let alone no steering wheel)
